The Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc. (DMSFI) was established in July 1976 to address the issue of complete lack of doctors serving in the rural areas and a severe lack of specialist in urban centers of Mindanao. This College of Medicine was thus the first such college which came up in Mindanao and is dedicated to providing excellent medical education and training, which led to superlative medical care in both rural and urban communities. The school is located on a 2.5 hectare area near the Davao City, which is blessed with a stable climate, both in weather and its politics. The students of Davao are affiliated to the Davao Medical Center, the Davao Doctors Hospitals, San Pedro Hospital and Brokenshire Memorial Hospital for their clinical rotation duties in the third and fourth years of their MBBS studies.
